Piel Ensemble is a trilogy performance aimed to be performed one after the other in one go (|Pi| solo piece, |3L| trio piece and {ensemble} group piece) in different possible chronological combinations.
| Pi | solo piece is a dance show choreographed and performed by Laura Gary.
The word “Pi” is associated to “Première pierre”, used in French in an expression that might dates back to the dawn of time. It apparently alluded to the Gospel and the “first stone” thrown on the adulterous woman, we can also read that it is the cornerstone, the first to be laid in the construction of a building. This is the most important, the one that must support everything.
In this work, “Pi” also refers to the word “pixel”, a dot amongst humanity, a descendant from an unknown lineage, that need a life-long research to identify. |Pi| is also the first liberation of a body that needs to express its unconscious through movement, as part of a much vaster environment.
The frame of this hybrid artistic work is divided within three components:
– BODY: Somatic, Psycho-traumatic & Spiritual introspection – a core research
– SPEECH: Voice, Tricot & Golden Light – a visual & sound scenography
– MIND: On Stage & On Video – a solo performance
The piece has been finalised thanks to fabrik Potsdam and the DIR program.
| Pi | solo piece performed its premiere on the 30th of June 2023 in T.A.N.Z. Braunschweig.
Live musician & music composer: Jan Wanzelius
|3L| trio piece is performed with Lola Atger, Josephine Auffray and Clara Crescini.
Lola is based in la Drôme, France and will perform through an outdoor video performance, which will be screened on stage while Claire and Joséphine will perform.
The working process is based on improvisation work with somatic guidelines, in order to find spontaneous choreographies of each performer, to highlight their potential meaning from a somatic, genealogical and spiritual point of view and finally make a poetic piece out of it.
The research process of |3L| trio piece could start in July 2023 with a first residency focused on Claire Crescini at K3 Tanzplan Hamburg in collaboration with Tanz.Nord and the network Tanz weit Draußen.
The report of this first residency can be uploaded here.
{ensemble} group piece, the third part of the project, will be a group piece that bring together any amateur that wants to present their inner world. A few moments of exchange with a local audience might help to move towards this final step, and create a first encounter and possibilities of continuing the project with interested people. In this work, is intent to be shown the universality of our body language and explore the differences of environments, such as performing in the countryside, or in the city. A particular interest is to bring different generations together and get a unique human experience through this performative exercice.
